The Affordable Care Act has been a lifesaver. I was recently diagnosed with an illness and immediately started treatment because I have health insurance though the Marketplace.
I realize that others aren’t so lucky. My daughter has been living without health insurance for the past year. She has struggled mentally, physically and financially. I retired early from my career to be her caregiver because she cannot live alone due to her illness.
As a mother it is difficult to watch your child suffer. I’m thankful that she recently signed up for health insurance through the Marketplace. Her health insurance coverage will start in January 2020, and she will be able to get the consistent care and medication that she needs.
Florida desperately needs to expand Medicaid so that millions of families in our state have access to the health care they need to survive and thrive.
