POTENTIAL BUDGET SAVINGS AND REVENUE GAINS FROM MEDICAID EXPANSION IN FLORIDA

Based on the experience of other states, legislative projections, and our own analysis, Medicaid Expansion could significantly reduce the number of uninsured Floridians, reduce state costs for uncompensated health care, result in significant budget savings and increased state revenues and free up state general revenue funds for other priorities.

Based on this analysis the total net estimated savings of Medicaid expansion in Florida for fiscal year 2022-2023 is $198,995,000.

Even with the lower enhanced federal match, the state will experience long term savings.

Other states that have already expanded Medicaid have experienced state budget gains since expansion.
